Hi all! Welcome to, #SAT #SPANKS.
‘Charly’s Pride’, my second Historical Western Romance is almost finished. YAY. I do love them cowboys. The main characters are Charlotte Henry and Slade Hazard. My heroines are always sassy and quite capable of taking care of themselves. My heroes are always stern and quite capable of taming their ladies, but not too much.*wink*
Eight sentences to tease and delight our readers. That’s the sole purpose of this blog. I don’t have a cover yet, but Blushing Books published my last two stories and I know I will not be disappointed. Be sure to check out the other authors participating in this hop by clicking on the names below this post. Have a great weekend!
Charlotte ‘Charly’, is disguised as a boy and Slade has no clue he’s been dealing with a female-yet. Rule No.1 If the stagecoach you’re on is held up by bandits, but the ring leader decides to let you all go, don’t tick him off. Headmistress, I went over a tad, but the sentences are short 🙂
“That’s it? You’re not going after them and bring them to justice? ”
Slade pointed to his empty holster.“With what, my charm?”
Charlotte rolled her eyes. “They’d be long gone.”
“Lose the snippy attitude.” Slade bent and leveled a stare. “You got to know when to pick your fights, boy. Trust me, now is not the time. Let’s get the hell out of here before they have a chance to think about it and change their minds.”
Charlotte shot one last look at the trio. She was not happy and, as usual, her mouth opened and her brain took a hike. “Hey you, big man with the gun.”
BLURB:
Separated from her father for ten years, Charlotte was determined to travel to Kansas with or without her mother’s permission. Propriety be damned. If it wasn’t proper for a young woman to travel alone, she’d disguise herself as a boy.
Life was lonely in the old west.
A man was considered lucky if he had a steady job, a roof over his head and an obedient wife. Rancher/Foreman Slade Hazard already had two out of the three. A couple of docile ladies in Soursville, Kansas would fit his needs nicely. He may not be in love, but he’d be a faithful husband, a good provider and hopefully, in due time, a father. Yep, he knew exactly what he wanted, that is, until he met Charlotte ‘Charly’ Henry.
Charlotte was mighty proud of herself. The train ride to Cheyenne had gone off without a hitch, just as she thought it would. This little jaunt on the stage, taking her to Soursville, Kansas should be a cinch. Even better, the tall, broad shouldered man sharing the stagecoach was her dream man come to life. A pity she couldn’t reveal her true gender to the handsome Slade Hazard and try a bit of flirting.
All goes well until the stagecoach is held up by a trio of bandits. Slade is determined to keep the passengers safe even if he has to threaten the unruly ‘boy’ with a good strapping. Charly’s sassy mouth lands her into trouble and when the truth of her gender is in danger, she has no choice. She must reveal herself to Slade.
Charlotte had never been spanked in her entire life, but Slade soon remedies the matter more than once. Her dream man wouldn’t dare take her across his knee, but would she be content to live a life with a man she could run roughshod over?
Slade thought he knew what he had wanted in a wife, but he finds that he actually enjoys sparring with the red headed spitfire.

Oh, I love the whole dressed as a boy story. It allows so many adventures in historical tales. An excellent literary tradition, Mary!
I do love a cowboy.
Great idea…after the hero tells you to go and you turn around and start a fight. Hopefully Charlotte can take care of herself!
LOLd at “her mouth opened and her brain took a hike.” HEH.
I loved that line too, Sheri! Cowboys make me swoon! I will definitely have to check this out once it’s released.
uh oh. I think she’s going to be in trouble! Looking forward to this one, Mary!
Hey you, big man with the gun… REALLY? OMG. Great.
Big man with a gun – love the imagery here. Agree that the girl pretending to be a boy scenario is so rich in possibility
